Terms of Service
Last updated: 9th September 2026
Welcome to The Story Parlour.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply when you visit or use our website, place an order with us, or otherwise purchase products from The Story Parlour.
The Story Parlour is a trading name used by Samantha Daley, a sole trader based in England, United Kingdom.
By using our website or placing an order, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully before placing an order.
These Terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Returns & Refunds Policy, each of which forms part of our agreement with you where applicable.
Nothing in these Terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
1. About us
The Story Parlour is the trading name of Samantha Daley, a sole trader.
Business name: The Story Parlour
Owner: Samantha Daley
Business address: Sheffield, United Kingdom
Email: my.story.parlour@gmail.com
Country: United Kingdom
If you have any questions about an order, product or these Terms, please contact us using the email address above.
2. Who these Terms apply to
These Terms apply primarily to customers purchasing products for personal or household use.
If you are purchasing products wholly or mainly for use in connection with a business, different legal rules may apply. Please contact us before placing a business order if you require business or wholesale terms.
Where you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.
3. Using our website
You may use our website only for lawful purposes.
You must not:
- use the website in a way that breaches applicable law or regulation;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to our website, systems or accounts;
- introduce viruses, malware or other harmful material;
- interfere with the operation or security of the website;
- use automated systems to scrape, copy or systematically collect content from the website without our prior written permission;
- use our website to commit fraud or otherwise mislead us or other customers; or
- reproduce, copy or commercially exploit our website or its content without our permission.
We may suspend or restrict access to our website where reasonably necessary, including for maintenance, security or suspected misuse.
4. Our products
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, colours, measurements and other information on our website are accurate.
However:
- colours may appear differently depending on your device, screen and settings;
- photographs are intended to illustrate the products and may not reproduce every detail exactly; and
- measurements and other product information may have reasonable manufacturing or handmade variations where this is stated in the product description.
We will not deliberately misrepresent our products.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights. Products supplied to consumers must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for their purpose as required by law. GOV.UK
If a product has particular characteristics, limitations, variations or care requirements, these will be described on the relevant product page where applicable.
5. Product availability
All products are subject to availability.
We may update, withdraw or discontinue products from time to time. However, if you have already entered into a contract with us for a product, we will not use this provision to avoid our obligations to you under that contract.
If a product becomes unavailable after you place an order and we are unable to fulfil it, we will contact you and provide an appropriate refund where required.
6. Placing an order
Before placing your order, please check that the details you have entered are correct, including your products, quantities, delivery address, billing details and payment information.
Our website will provide the applicable ordering process and allow you to identify and correct certain errors before submitting your order.
When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase the products selected by you.
Your order will normally be acknowledged by email. The acknowledgement confirms that we have received your order but does not necessarily mean that your order has been accepted.
A contract between you and us is formed when we confirm that we have accepted your order, normally by sending you an order confirmation.
We may decline an order where there is a genuine reason to do so, such as:
- the product being unavailable;
- an obvious pricing or description error;
- a suspected fraudulent or unauthorised transaction;
- a delivery destination to which we do not ship; or
- circumstances where we are unable to fulfil the order.
If we decline an order after payment has been taken, we will refund the amount paid.
7. Prices
The price payable for a product will be the price displayed on the website at the time you place your order, subject to obvious errors.
Where applicable, prices will include VAT. If we are not required to charge VAT, prices will not include VAT.
The total price payable, including applicable delivery charges, will be shown before you complete your purchase.
We will not increase the price of a product after you have placed an order unless we are required to do so by law or you have separately agreed to the change.
From time to time we may offer discounts or promotional prices. Promotional offers may be subject to additional terms, which will be made clear at the time of the offer.
8. Payment
Payment must be made using the payment methods offered through our website.
By submitting payment details, you confirm that you are authorised to use the relevant payment method.
Payment information may be processed by third-party payment providers. We do not generally have access to your complete payment card details.
If payment is unsuccessful, we may be unable to process or fulfil your order.
9. Delivery — United Kingdom
We will deliver products to the delivery address you provide at checkout.
Available delivery options, estimated delivery times and delivery charges will be displayed before you place your order.
Delivery times are estimates unless we have expressly agreed a specific delivery date with you.
Unless a different period has been agreed with you, goods should generally be delivered without undue delay and no later than 30 days after the contract is entered into. GOV.UK+1
If we are unable to deliver within the agreed period, you may have legal rights to cancel the contract and receive a refund depending on the circumstances.
Once we have handed your order to the carrier, we remain responsible for our legal obligations to you as the seller. Nothing in these Terms transfers consumer risk to you earlier than permitted by law.
10. International delivery
We may offer delivery to countries outside the United Kingdom.
Available countries, delivery methods, estimated delivery times and charges will be displayed at checkout or in our delivery information.
International delivery times are estimates and may be affected by customs clearance, local postal services and other circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Depending on the destination country, you may be responsible for:
- import duties;
- customs charges;
- local taxes;
- customs clearance fees; and
- other charges imposed by the destination country.
Where such charges are payable by you, we will not be responsible for them unless we have expressly stated otherwise.
You are responsible for providing an accurate delivery address and any information reasonably required for customs clearance.
We reserve the right not to ship to particular countries or locations where we reasonably consider that shipping is unavailable, prohibited, impractical or presents an unacceptable legal or operational risk.
International sales may also be subject to mandatory consumer protection laws in the country where you live. Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove any rights that cannot legally be excluded.
If you are purchasing from outside the UK, you should check the import rules and charges applicable in your country before placing your order.
11. Delays and events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays caused by circumstances that are outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, natural disasters, strikes, disruptions to transport networks, customs delays, government restrictions, war, civil emergencies, widespread technical failures or similar events.
However, this does not affect any rights you have under applicable consumer law, including rights concerning delivery and cancellation.
Where an event outside our reasonable control significantly affects your order, we will take reasonable steps to notify you and, where appropriate, provide available options.
12. Your right to cancel an online order
If you are a UK consumer purchasing goods online, you generally have a legal right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving a reason, subject to legal exceptions.
Where an order contains multiple goods delivered separately, the cancellation period generally runs from the day after you receive the final goods in the order. GOV.UK Assets
If you cancel within the applicable cancellation period:
- you must tell us clearly that you wish to cancel;
- you normally then have a further 14 days to return the goods;
- we will refund eligible payments in accordance with applicable law;
- the refund will normally include the cost of standard delivery you paid for;
- if you selected a more expensive delivery option, we are only required to refund the cost of the least expensive standard delivery option we offered; and
- we may make a deduction for any reduction in the value of goods resulting from handling beyond what would reasonably be allowed in a shop. GOV.UK
We will normally issue a refund within 14 days after receiving the returned goods, or, where permitted by law, within 14 days after you provide evidence that you have returned them.
How to cancel
To cancel your order, contact:
The Story Parlour
Email: my.story.parlour@gmail.com
You may use the cancellation wording contained in our Returns & Refunds Policy, but you do not have to use a particular form or wording provided that your communication clearly states that you wish to cancel.
13. Products that cannot be cancelled
The statutory 14-day cancellation right does not apply in certain circumstances provided by law.
Depending on the products we sell, exceptions may include:
- goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised;
- goods which are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly;
- sealed goods which are not suitable for return for health protection or hygiene reasons where the seal has been broken; and
- other goods or contracts falling within a statutory exception.
Where a product is excluded from the statutory cancellation right, we will make this clear on the relevant product page before you purchase it.
These exceptions do not remove your rights where goods are faulty, not as described or otherwise fail to comply with your statutory rights.
14. Faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied goods
Your statutory rights are separate from the voluntary cancellation rights described above.
If goods are faulty, damaged, not as described, or otherwise fail to meet the standards required by law, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund.
We will deal with qualifying problems in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other applicable consumer protection legislation.
You do not lose your statutory rights simply because a product is outside our voluntary returns period.
15. Returns
Returns are handled in accordance with our Returns & Refunds Policy, which explains:
- how to request a return;
- where to send returned products;
- applicable return costs;
- refunds;
- exchanges;
- personalised products;
- faulty or damaged products; and
- international returns.
Our Returns & Refunds Policy does not restrict your statutory consumer rights.
16. Refunds
Where you are entitled to a refund, we will normally refund the payment using the same payment method used for the original transaction, unless otherwise agreed or required by law.
We will not normally charge a separate administration fee for exercising a statutory cancellation right.
Where you have paid for standard delivery, that delivery cost will be refunded where required by law.
For returned goods, we may make a lawful deduction where the value of the goods has been reduced because you handled them beyond what was reasonably necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning.
17. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.
In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes or limits:
- liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- your statutory consumer rights;
- liability relating to goods that are not as described, not of satisfactory quality or not fit for purpose where the law prevents such liability from being excluded; or
- any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Subject to the above, we are responsible only for losses that are reasonably foreseeable consequences of our breach of these Terms or our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.
If you are a consumer, we will not be liable for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable or that arise from circumstances outside our reasonable control, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
Nothing in this section affects rights that you cannot legally waive.
18. Our website and third-party services
We aim to keep our website available and accurate, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free from errors.
Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services.
We are not responsible for third-party websites or services that we do not control. If you use a third-party website, you should review its own terms and privacy policy.
Our website is hosted and supported by Shopify. Your purchase contract is with The Story Parlour, not Shopify.
19. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the content on our website, including text, photographs, graphics, logos, designs, product descriptions, illustrations, branding and other material, belongs to or is licensed to The Story Parlour.
You may access and use our website for your personal, non-commercial use.
You must not reproduce, copy, distribute, modify, sell, publish or commercially exploit our content without our prior written permission, except where permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of our intellectual property to you.
20. Customer reviews and other content
If you submit a review, photograph, comment or other content to us, you confirm that:
- the content is your own or you have permission to use it;
- it does not infringe another person's intellectual property or other rights;
- it is not unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, abusive, threatening or misleading; and
- it does not contain malicious software.
You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, display and publish the content you provide for the purposes of operating, promoting and improving The Story Parlour, including on our website and social media.
We may remove or decline to publish content that we reasonably believe breaches these Terms or applicable law.
Nothing in this section requires us to publish a review or other content.
21. Privacy and personal information
We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, who we may share it with and your rights.
Our website is powered by Shopify and certain information is processed by Shopify and other service providers as necessary to operate the website, process payments, fulfil orders and provide related services.
Please read our Privacy Policy before using the website or placing an order.
22. Cookies
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies.
Further information about cookies and how they are used is provided in our Cookie Policy.
23. Promotions and discount codes
Where we offer a promotional code, discount or special offer, any specific conditions applying to that promotion will be displayed at the time of the offer.
Unless otherwise stated:
- promotional codes cannot be exchanged for cash;
- only one promotional code may be used per order;
- promotions cannot be applied retrospectively to completed orders; and
- we may withdraw a promotion where there has been an obvious error or where the promotion has ended.
Nothing in this section limits your statutory rights.
24. Errors in website information
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that information on our website is accurate.
If we discover an obvious error in a price, product description or other material information, we may correct the error.
If an obvious error affects an order that you have already placed, we will contact you where reasonably possible and explain the situation.
We will not rely on an obvious error to deprive you of rights that you have under applicable law.
25. Account security
If our website allows you to create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login information confidential and for notifying us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
You must provide information that is accurate and kept up to date.
We may suspend an account where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention or other legitimate reasons.
26. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to our business, website or legal requirements.
The version applicable to an order will normally be the version in force when you placed that order.
Changes made after you have entered into a contract with us will not retrospectively change that contract unless required by law or agreed with you.
The current version of these Terms will be published on our website.
27. Complaints
We want to resolve problems fairly and promptly.
If you have a complaint about an order, product or our service, please contact:
Email: my.story.parlour@gmail.com
Please include your order number and a description of the issue where possible.
We will consider your complaint and try to resolve it reasonably.
28. Governing law
If you are a consumer resident in England or Wales, these Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident in Scotland, these Terms are governed by the law of Scotland to the extent required by applicable law.
If you live outside the United Kingdom, these Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, except that you may also benefit from any mandatory consumer protection laws that apply in your country of residence and cannot legally be excluded.
Nothing in this section prevents you from relying on mandatory consumer protection rights that apply to you.
29. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be treated as modified or removed to the minimum extent necessary.
The remaining provisions will continue to apply.
30. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the policies expressly referred to in them and the information provided to you before you place an order, form the basis of the agreement between you and The Story Parlour.
Nothing in these Terms removes or limits rights that you have under applicable law.
31. No waiver
If we do not immediately enforce a right under these Terms, this does not mean that we have waived that right.
32. Assignment
You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms to another person where doing so would affect our rights or obligations, except where permitted by law.
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another business as part of a genuine business transfer or restructuring, provided that doing so does not reduce your legal rights.
33. Contact information
